yup, it sounds like a wheel bearing problem. I just got mine done few months ago and i was hearing the same type of noise, gets louder as you speed up. I thought it was my muffler going bad, but it wasn't. It was first time i ever had to change wheel bearing in any of my cars, and i couldn't make out what the deal was. i also thought there maybe something wrong with my gears, so i tried to switch those, and i kept hearing the noise. Varan25

rich s has the mostly correct answer until he comes to minimum tread to repair the tire. the bottom line in auto repair is just that, 'the bottom line'...they make profits, big profits off selling u a new tire, then charging u 4 the balancing, then charging u 4 disposal of ur old tire, then "inspecting" your vehicle and "finding" things that you should repair...that makes them way more money than fixing a flat.

i went into my local flinstone tire and rubber company store 2 buy 2 new tires after reading their flyer, here was the breakdown:

P235-75R15...20,000 mile tire, $33.95, per their flyer...ok i'll take 2 of them. sorry sir,, i can't sell them to you, we have to install them...where does it say that...in the fine print on the flyer(need magnifying glass to find and read it)...ok how much are 2 tires mounted and balanced...$119.67...whats the extra fees for, two tires are only $67.90 + tax...mounting, balancing, new valve stems, 20pt vehicle check...i don't want a 20pt vehicle check, take the fee off...sorry, we can't do that sir, its an added charge; (again shows me fine print on the flyer with magnifying glass)...whats this extra fee per tire...your old tire disposal...i'll take them with me, take the $8 per tire fee off....sorry sir, we can't do that, we aren't allowed by law to let you take the old tires with you....who's law...state law...show it to me...i don't have a copy of that here, sir.
thank you, i'll buy my new tires someplace else...have a nice day, sir.

these r the same ppl who supplied the tires for fords exploder fiasco some years back...one would think they would wake up and smell the odor they are still emmiting.

find a mom and pop place 2 buy what u need...but do it quick as wallywrld is quickly running them outta business.

good luck and GOD bless. junkyarddogfan

Sorry, the best thing and safest you can do is replace the tire. Keep an eye on your tire pressure and avoid those pot holes. Bob A

in your example the 225 is the width of the tire in mm ie how wide the tread is

the next number, 50, a percentage. It means the sidewall of the tire is 50% of the width...ie 225x50%=112.5 mm

and you are right about rim size. The letter shows the type of tire construction. R means radial. And if there is a number following the 17, it will provide speed rating. Z is common on tires this large meaning over 180 mph i believe car dude

First, go get your tire repaired. A slow leak is a blow out asking to happen. But to answer your question, absolutely not, it won't explode. I'm not sure why anyone thinks it would. It is ok to put compressed air in a nitrogen filled tire. You should, at some time go to a tire store or facility that has nitrogen so they can purge the tire and get the nitrogen percentage up to where it should be.... 95 to 98 percent. You are just losing the nitrogen benefit that you had before you added the regular compressed air. Char
